This according to AD Tom Jurich in the Courier-Journal:

Jurich reveals Big East slate

The Cardinals' first season in the Big East Conference will include home games against Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Rutgers and road games against West Virginia, Connecticut, Cincinnati and South Florida. Non-conference opponents Kentucky and North Carolina are set, with a possible matchup against Texas-El Paso.

Is next year a 12 game or 11 game year.? And who will be the 11th game?

- Maize - 11-21-2004 08:53 AM

Next year it is 11 and it looks like it could either be NC State or Florida Atlantic-(Howard Schellenberger team).

This neatly confirms some of our prognostications.

WVU / Pitt / Cincy / UL are anticipated to be a foursome for scheduling.

When you play @ WVU
Cincy plays them at home
When you have Pitt at home
Cincy plays at Pitt

So this confirms our guesswork up here that we will have WVU @ home and play at Pitt next year.

It seems the really big question concerns Syracuse. By all rights, since Syracuse played away games versus BC and Temple (who aren't coming back to play home games for Syracuse next year), that would leave Syracuse with only 3 home games in conference. But the conference power brokers want to give SU, WVU, Pitt and Rutgers four home games, and newbies UConn, UC, UL and USF three.

If that's true, which it probably is, then look for Cincy to bite the bullet for dear old Syracuse (spoiled brats) and play @ Syracuse again next year. In exchange we would get Connecticut at home.

My personal guesswork on Cincy's conference schedule next year is:

UConn
@ Syracuse
@ Pitt
WVU
@ Rutgers
@ South Florida
Louisville

We really need a 9th football member don't we?

- Wilkie01 - 11-21-2004 09:29 AM

We need Notre Dame to step up. It makes the ECU seem more real.

- Cat's_Claw - 11-21-2004 10:47 AM

UConn
@ Syracuse
@ Pitt
WVU
@ Rutgers
@ South Florida
Louisville

You're right, that looks like UCs schedule. We also have OOC games @Penn State, @Miami-OH and home against Eastern Michigan (which I hate having that game). We need another home game, preferably a quality home game. I agree, we definitely need a 9th football member! Or, as mentioned, for Notre Dame to step up. Preferably we need both.

Yep

Based on Louisville's official schedule and a whole lot of presumptions on my part (the original Big East members get 4 home games to the newcomers 3, UConn and Cincy returning to the Dome, USF/Ville/Cincy continue the way they are currently set up, i.e. next games are all where they were originally planned before the expansion), here is everybody's conference schedule for next year...

Cincinnati
LOUISVILLE
WVU
UCONN
@ USF
@ Pitt
@ Syracuse
@ Rutgers

UConn

you have Cincy hosting UConn and UConn hosting Cincy in the same year...

I would just adjust UConn's schedule to this:

LOUISVILLE
RUTGERS
SOUTH FLORIDA
@ Cincinnati

@ Pitt
@ Syracuse
@ WVU

I believe I read in the paper or online or both that the original Big East members get 4 home conference games next year and the new teams only have three home conference games. If this is true then UCONN should have 4 home BE games.

- mlb - 11-24-2004 12:38 PM

UConn isn't an original football member though. They are new this year.
