Interesting they could get the 4th book and can't move on books 2 and 3. I saw the Danish language original trilogy on Netflix and liked the extended cut 2 parters for each book a lot. I personally thought the remake a few years ago was good enough to get 2 and 3 made with the same cast.

There were several reasons the last movie was SO good.

Beyond the fact that the story was good and well told, the supporting cast was excellent.

Perhaps the biggest reason was Rooney Mara. She was incredible (should have won the Oscar IMO) and it would take a grand slam to find an actress who not only has the chops to take on a role like that, but be believable.

I liked the Craig Mara movie but I also liked the original Dutch one as well. I thought the trilogy was equally, deep, suspenseful, and kept your attention all the way to the end to see how deep the rabbit hole went in her story.

Original one was a great movie and did well with credits and at the box office, surprised it hasn't gotten a sequel yet. Guess it's The Incredibles of dark mystery dramas.
