Les Miles or PJ Fleck the new HC?

PJ Fleck seems like a good hire here based upon what he did a WMU. He proved to be a fantastic recruiter to a struggling MAC program. However, he did end up with a big talent advantage at WMU by the end of his career there. I don't see him being able to build that type of talent advantage in the Big 10 so I guess we will see how it works out for him as he will have to prove himself as a good developer and game day coach.

Nice thing for Fleck is that Minnesota has easy OOC lined up and relatively easy Big 10 schedules in his first few years. Next year they only get Michigan out of the OSU/Mich/Penn State trio in the East and their top OOC game is Oregon State.

In 18 they only have Ohio State and in 19 they only have Penn State out of that trio of 3 from the East. They also miss Michigan State in 18 and 19. In 18 and 19 their top OOC game right now is Fresno State.

I don't think this is a good idea for Fleck. He will have little time to recruit while hiring a staff. I thought he would have held off until next year and landed a good job but Minnesota is the caliber I expected. It looks like a quality hire for Minnesota at the time.

As an Eastern Michigan fan I'm glad he's moved on, as a Big Ten fan I wonder if he is the one to be able to elevate Minnesota to top tier status within the Big Ten. Recruiting wise good chance, on the field I'm not sold.
