Great for Kenny!

I had not been paying attention.

Imagine when he gets his own recruits....

Tough conference- 9 ranked teams. 6 ACC teams ranked above him and 2 ranked below.

Congrats to him but wish it was literally almost any other school but Tech.

Know more Tech folks than UVA - but would prefer Tech to UVA or ODU.

Kinda feel like until we play Tech again in football we've got one up on them.

04-cheers

I remind my Tech friends that we've given them Whit Babcock and Kenny Brooks while taking Bryan Stinespring off their hands.

It's the least we could do after The Game.

RE: Holy Cow - Wear Purple - 01-16-2017 03:58 PM

Brooks is going to do a great job with a program with little-to-no successful history/foundation. Terrific hire by Babcock.

VPI&SU's schedule is getting ready to ramp up after their next game against Wake Forest in a big way. The ACC is absolutely loaded and brutal. So far so good for HCKB in his first season at Blacksburg. Good luck to him. Great to see JMU Alums succeed.

I think JMU had a top15 ceiling with our current resources. While their Arena sucks, I think Kenny will have a higher top end opportunity at Tech.

Not bad for a coach kicked off the Men's coaching staff so they could bring in Dr Ron to assist Sherm. I think Kenny's personality is perfect for Women's basketball. He comes across very cool and caring. I think a lot of fans believe any Men's coach could coach Women's basketball, but I think a lot would not have the right personality to have the same success. . If I had the choice of any men's coach in the CAA to coach the Lady Dukes or Kenny, I would take Kenny.

RE: Holy Cow - olddawg - 01-16-2017 04:34 PM

I don't disagree w/ a Top 15 ceiling. However, I firmly believe Kenny could have gone even higher simply by having P5 pedigree. You put us in the ACC tomorrow and Kenny would instantly have access to better players. I believe our old arena would be just a small impediment. Cassell isn't any better than the Convo-just larger. Hope that Kenny takes advantage of his new recruiting pool. Our ceiling will always be our mid major conference.

Wheels are coming off the bus on Tech's season. Losing 70-21 at UVA. I am not as optimistic on Tech's ceiling. The ACC is brutal. He will need 4-5 seasons to get the talent level up to compete with the top half of the league. Hope he proves me wrong as I do cheer for Tech because of Whit and Coach Brooks. Finishing at 500 in ACC will be tough.

RE: Holy Cow - Deez Nuts - 01-26-2017 10:37 PM

talk about holy cow!!! #19 Tech losing to UVA 27-76.

Y-I-K-E-S

you'd think Hart was predicting the score against JMU

A really bad shooting night.

RE: Holy Cow - Wear Purple - 01-28-2017 02:39 PM

The ACC is brutal and the schedule is starting to catch up to Kenny and the Hokies. The game before losing to UVA, they lost to FSU by 28 and to Duke before that by 25 during this 3 game losing streak.

They now face Syracuse (last year's runner up), Notre Dame (#3 RPI), travel to Ga Tech, host Louisville (#11 RPI), and then travel to NC State (#37 RPI) before things ease up a bit...well, if you can call any ACC games other than Clemson to be "easing up". I can easily see them losing 8 straight and sitting at 3-9 in the ACC thru 12 games.

As for now though, they are hanging on as a bubble NCAAT team in Kenny's first year.

Man - Kenny is not JMU message board related? Most JMU fans have an interest in our alumni player and long time coach. I know we've talked about a lot of ex Women's Basketball, and JMU football players on here and what they are doing in their careers.

We have multiple negative threads about Withers, but can't talk positively about our future Hall of Famer Kenny who has done so much for JMU? I don't understand the reasoning......
