Washington, the Texan - JSA - 02-22-2017 09:19 AM

In honor of the day:

"It's a little known fact that George Washington was actually a Texan.

One day when his father was out surveying the family ranch, he discovered that his favorite mesquite tree had been cut down.

Returning home, he asked his son if he knew anything about it. 'Daddy, I cannot tell a lie. I did it with my little Bowie knife.'

'Ma,' his father replied, pack the wagon. The boy's got no future here.' "

Most people don't realize that, according to the federal government, Monday was "Washington's Birthday" - not "Presidents' Day."
