3 BT programs in the Sweet 16! - Policiious - 03-20-2017 01:28 PM

Based on how the Big 10 was seeded this year, getting 3 into the Sweet 16 is a great accomplishment considering Wisky had to beat a #1 seed and Michigan a #2 along with Purdue beating out the Big 12 champion.

Cats darn near made it 4 in the Sweet 16 if not for a bad blown call by the Refs but based on how the conference was viewed going into the post season, the results so far are as good as could be expected04-cheers04-bow

Congrats to the Big Ten. Somebody has to win this thing; the ACC certainly stunk the place up.

Louisville ran into a Michigan team that has been red hot for the past month. If they had not won the Big 10 tournament Michigan quite likely would not have received a bid.

Xavier has quite a bit more tournament experience thatn FSU, with thier win over the Noles the Musketeers are in their 6th Sweet 16 in the last 10 years and 4th in the last 8. When tourney time comes they know how to turn it on.

The tournament that has gone absolutely off the rails in the NIT. Illinois, Georgia Tech & Mississippi are the only Power Conference teams left.

Ole Miss a 5th seed hosts Ga Tech a 6th see in the quarterfinals while

Illinois (a 2nd seed) travels to UCF ( 4th seed) because the State Farm arena is not available for the upcoming game

TCU (4th seed) hosts Richmond (6th seed) while

6th Seed UT Arlington hosts 8th seed UC Bakersfield.

Who wins the NIT title out of these final 8 is anyones guess

Last I checked, TCU was a P6 school. That makes 4 out of the final 8 in the NIT are power conference schools. And although UCF is not in a power conference, they are from the AAC, probably the 7th best conference.

Still, it is true that the power schools are doing worse in the NIT, with only 4 out of 8 teams left, than the NCAA, where 15 out of 16 are P6 schools.

To be fair, the power schools in the NIT are the 6th-9th best in their conference going up against schools that are 2nd-4th in the non-power conferences so that explains some of the difference.

And now there are no Big Ten teams left out of the elite 8.

tough losses for Mich and Wisc in last second.

Oops yep I forgot about TCU. They've had a good run in the NIT.

Hope Bakersfield can make the title game that would be a heck of a story for an 8th seed.
