MLB - nets to protect fans - MplsBison - 09-21-2017 09:18 AM Little girl got hit by foul ball at yesterday's Yankees - Twins game. Twins player Brian Dozier calls for owners to be forced to put nets up: http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2017/09/20/girl-hit-by-105-mph-ball/ Quote:A young girl at Yankee Stadium was injured by a 105 mph foul ball off the bat of Todd Frazier during Wednesday’s game against Minnesota, leading some players to call for protective netting to be extended. Absolutely disgusting. These rich ba___d owners need to be whipped in public, then forced to put nets up. MLB - nets to protect fans - vandiver49 - 09-21-2017 06:49 PM I'm surprised there are teams without nets. I always thought it was a league rule. And then we need to give them $500MM in public funds to build a new ballpark, right? RE: MLB - nets to protect fans - C2__ - 09-21-2017 11:01 PM I understand the concern but these things happen at MLB stadiums, she wasn't in the first row and if you extend the nets too far, you'll obstruct the view of the field for people not in the first few rows. The best solution is to raise the walls/stands in foul grounds and plead with people to pay close attention via the scoreboard and PA system. But then you have to worry about people falling to their death trying to catch a foul ball or just getting too close if the walls are too high. Accidents happen with cars every day, why don't we just take cars off the road or lower the speed limit (the latter is a fair idea)? It's life, you live with the risks unless you wanna live in glass bubble. RE: MLB - nets to protect fans - C2__ - 09-21-2017 11:04 PM Another solution is to use a really hard glass as a field barrier. RE: MLB - nets to protect fans - DaSaintFan - 09-25-2017 02:56 PM I know most hockey game tickets have a warning on them about flying objects... do baseball tickets?
