6 home, 6 away. I like that balance.
4 P5, 6 G5, 2 FCS. Overall solid.
No P5 games at home and no particularly interesting home games (they are okay games).

6 home, 6 away games. I like the balance.
2 P5, 9 G5, 1 FCS. There is one strength and one weakness. The strength is that this is a manageable schedule to make a bowl game because it is G5 loaded. The weakness is only playing 2 P5 games. Growing the LU football brand will require more P5 games and win against those P5 teams.
The mix of G5 games look great.

The problem playing P5 schools is a ton of them are 2-1. There are only a few of those we can do and manage to keep it offset with FCS games. Winning will allow for more H&H agreements with P5 schools.

The one thing I like about both schedules are there are no more than two road games in a row.

These are great, orher than 2 FCS games in 2020.

RE: 2020 and 2021 Football Schedules - GE and MTS - 12-22-2017 06:49 AM

First thing that stands out is the two FCS games. Hopefully that ends in 2020.

The second is the absence of New Mexico State. They are currently an independent after getting kicked out of the Sun Belt. We play them twice in 2018 and 2019. Are they throwing in the towel or are one of us refusing to travel cross-country?

It looks like UMass will be the top candidate for a rivalry going forward as we play them annually and near the end of the season.

I would have liked more P5 opponents in 2021 but the rest of the opponents include ODU and Army so we still have interesting opponents to get excited about.

Overall, they both look favorable to be bowl eligible and don't look too daunting for a team with a full roster of FBS recruits.

NMSU and LU I expect to play 2-3 times every 5 years. It's a lot of money crossing the country for a game. If either is having a hard time filling the schedule I'm sure the other would step in to help out.

UMASS is a go probably every year. They aren't too far away and need the help scheduling too.

The FCS thing is done in 2020 to my knowledge. We will only have one game one the schedule unless it is unavoidable.

These are mostly in decent recruiting areas and should be easy to travel to and from for us and visitors. I think they are well balanced and give us a chance to get bowl eligible moving forward.

Again, I would love NCSU to do 2 for 1 with Liberty in the future. Liberty is one road game I would like to make just to see the campus and facilities. With NCSU Schedule I would love to see the following
2023 @NCSU
2025 @NCSU
2028 @LIBERTY (Would not mind 2024 but NCSU needs to get its P5 game so it my need to have an the away game at the location)

I don't think Liberty would go for that. NC State could cancel their trip to Lynchburg after two home games and leave LU hanging. It would have to be NCSU/LU/NCSU.

25/28/30 could work but then I just hope I am around that for out. 03-wink

How much did FIU get paid for a 1 and done game?

I was under the impression that game was part of a home and home. The other date just hasn't been announced yet.

Honestly, I’m surprised a series has not been announced with CCU. I wonder if it has been attempted and one or both sides are balking at the idea?

I'm surprised as well. I would have expected them to use a familiar face that would bring the crowds out. Moving to the Sun Belt provides no former rivals so getting someone the fans would recognize would have improved the situation. At least Liberty is getting P5 schools and other recognizable names like Army, BYU, ODU, etc. Oh well. Coastal had more to gain from the partnership than LU as LU hasn't had trouble getting 15,000 in attendance even in FCS.

I haven't heard anything about it. I'm surprised due to the fan interest in that game.
