Not a shock at all.

UCF getting hosed. Welcome to life in the G5. Le sigh.

RE: Final AP Poll released; no FAU - Dawgxas - 01-09-2018 10:01 AM

I don't think so, they jumped a 12-1 Wisconsin team that had convincing win over Miami in a bowl game and Penn State who beat Washington in a bowl game. Both 20x tougher schedule than UCF.

Besides the bowl win, the only P5 game that UCF played was against Maryland which Penn State beat 66-3. I really think that was a bone thrown to UCF and G5, because most would considered Wisconsin and Penn State better

The lopsided early season losses hurt FAU. It took awhile for the Lane train to get rolling. If they had perfom better against Wisconsin and Navy, FAU would be Ranked

IMO the Buffalo loss probably had more to do with them not being ranked than Wisconsin and/or Navy as those 2 were games 1 and 2 while Buffalo was game 4 as well as Buffalo doesn't have the name recognition as the other two. Also, should they had won at Buffalo they would've finished the season on a 12-0 run. But what happened is what it is and we'll never know.

Not surprised. While we came together after that Buffalo game there I dont think the voters could over come that loss. Our final SOS was #112.

Always next year!

Seems way more insulting that Army didn't get the nod at #24/#25. Why not?

FAU will be a strong opponent next year for us. Looking forward to that one. 04-cheers

I do love that UCF received 4 votes for #1.

Only in your Fantasy Land is #32 "20x tougher" than #12.

Noticed you conveniently left out the fact that UCF was 4-0 vs Top 25 teams. Yep, no bias here. No sir.

You're right. It's probably 30x tougher. UCF should definitely be ranked behind Wisconsin and Penn State. Fantasy land is UCF claiming a National Championship.

I don't know if they were lopsided. 31-14 loss to the then-#9 Wisconsin is just 7 points worse than UM's loss.

I think I will agree with those who believe that the Buffalo loss doomed us. A 12-2 FAU with only the losses to Navy and Wisconsin may have had a far better chance to be ranked.

You really thought Army, who lost to North Texas, should have gotten a nod?

I think if UCF can go undefeated again next season (non-conference wins over FAU, UNC, and Pitt) they have a great shot at the playoff.

I am already salivating about the FAU @ UCF match-up. That will be orgasmic! I do not know who wins, but it will blow the offensive numbers through the roof. 63-56.

That's "assuming" UCF picks up with the new staff where they left off with the previous staff. Considering the FAU-UCF matchup is several games into the season it "should" give both teams (moreso UCF than FAU) time to work out any early season kinks.

If FAU had played in a better bowl game against a P5 and won, it might've been enough to give you consideration for a top 25. The conference champion playing at home against 7-7 Akron did absolutely nothing for you in anyone's eyes.

Yes, Akron was not an adequate opponent, and it showed on the field and in the scoreline.

Yea, those losses hurt and we also caught some flack for not playing a better team in the bowl even though it was not in our control.

I wouldn't equate UCF getting hosed with "G5". Your conf champ that went 8-0 in CUSA couldn't crack the top 25. AAC has three members in.
