Costa Rica is incredibly nice. You have to not only prove you can support yourself, you have to put money in a Costa Rican bank. I don't think you can seriously even consider becoming a Costa Rican citizen for less than 500,000 dollars after living there for 7 years.

People need to look at the requirements to become a citizen in a few countries around the world to realize exactly how batshite crazy our immigration policy is.

I looked in to becoming a full citizen years ago and it seemed like you had to have 250,000 cash and invest 100,000 in a local company.
