Is UAB at Marshall not on Facebook?

Yeah, only at the stadium on the Jumbotron. I shouldn't give Genius Judy any ideas.

RE: TV for 1/20 games - WKUFan518 - 01-19-2018 02:45 PM

Every MTSU vs. WKU game should be on TV somewhere...Looking at basketball schedule tomorrow night nationally and its sparse, crazy we cannot have game on TV tomorrow night somewhere....

We need to get out of the locked in Thursday-Saturday schedule and play any night that will get us on TV.

RE: TV for 1/20 games - MUsince96 - 01-20-2018 09:32 AM

Nevermind. Marshall/UAB is only on local Stadium. Not the main channel.

So the closest thing CUSA has to a national broadcast today is on Facebook...

No. MTSU vs WKU is on the Stadium 24/7 channel today. So you can watch via OTA, Roku, tablet/phone and on Pluto.

Well that's good. It must have been upgraded. I'm going to try and not check the score and watch it on demand when I get home from the Marshall game tonight.

Those FB games are sad because you can actually see how many are watching.

I personally loved the one Stadium Facebook broadcast we had this year vs EKU. You can chat live with the game and talk smack. Viewership tends to be pretty good, too. I think almost 300,000 people tuned in to that broadcast. I don't think these games are good for exposure for the conference, and WKU/MTSU should be an ESPN2/ESPNU type of game, but at least Stadium has been great for fans. It is free, after all.

RE: TV for 1/20 games - rileylives - 01-20-2018 03:05 PM

I live in Lexington. It looks like the WKU vs MTSU game is on the "live linear network" at 7pm.

No mention of the Marshall game.03-banghead

Stadium has potential. I've been following it on Roku. Watched several CUSA games.

Pardon me for being a technically illiterate old fart, but WTF is Stadium on Facebook? Will it literally "go live" on Facebook? What page do I need to follow to get it Can I Chromecast it or are we stuck watching on a phone?

What we and the TV stations need to do is be more agile. They pick the TV games before the season even begins and I'm sure this wasn't looked at as a premiere game because WKU has been mediocre for awhile. Can't believe none of the stations saw this one on the schedule a week ago and figure out a way to pick it up.

Pluto will be getting the game on a 4 1/2 hour delay, however.

This is CUSA's problem... let's use today's games as an example: those last 6 TV spots for Saturday bball games have their choice to air the following:

UNLV vs CSU & SDSU vs UNM
UCF vs USF & Memphis vs Tulsa
Tulane vs SMU & BSU vs Nevada
WKU vs MTSU & UAB vs Marshall

If you're a tv executive why in the world would you choose to air WKU/MTSU (no markets) and UAB/Marshall (no markets) over matchups like Tulane/SMU (NOLA and Dallas markets) and BSU/Nevada (much more brand recognition and markets than Bowling Green, Birmingham, Huntington, and Murfreesboro)

Again, they've got us beat in brand names and markets.

Nobody is showing F_U, North Texas or Rice either. Markets have nothing to do with it. The problem is the deals are made so far in advance and they can't air based on matchups because they are contractually stuck.

No, they aren't showing F_U, UNT, and Rice because they (along with the majority of CUSA) have ZERO brand value. If we had an ounce of added brand value then we wouldn't be having this conversation. HERE'S what's important for good tv deals:

Brand. If you've got brand AND you've got big tv markets then that's a deadly combo.

If you have no brand (like CUSA) then it doesn't matter what big city the schools (F_I, UNCC, ODU, Rice) are in we will have a terrible TV deal.

We are who we are and can't change that. All we can do is try to at least make sure the few games we do get on TV are meaningful games. Picking them before the season starts based largely on previous season results is not the way to do it.
