Is DavidSt also David Kryzezewski? If so, that’s who I want.

He needs a job. He has zero ***** to give. He went to Pepperdine; his brother-in-law flamed out of coaching so that conflict's not relevant. He knows sports, but isn't out of the sports-industrial complex. Most of all, as a Democratic ex-President he has the best chance of getting deference from the academic mandarins who control the universities that make up the NCAA.

Give him the powers Kennesaw Mountain Landis had after the Black Sox Scandal, and treat this as an existential moment for college sports on the same level as that one. Blow it all up.

Would there be transgender and opposite sex quotas on every sports team? That has got to be one of the worst ideas ever on this board. Putting a politician in charge of sports?

Emmert's connection to LSU made it obvious he would never do anything about recruiting issues. You don't want someone from a major football or basketball power.

I'll do it. Destroy it from within.

More like the DNC playbook. They've been trying to destroy this country since they had JFK killed.

Surely he can't be retained. Under his leadership and that of the NCAA BoT more women were allowed to be violently attacked including rape and harassment. For what they have done and for what they have failed to do more women, more daughters were harmed.

Surely he is not deflecting blame? Surely he can not be retained?

A way out is the Southern Ivy League, previously envisioned as the Magnolia Conference. It could still be Division 1 for basketball and baseball, but football would be non-scholarship and maybe the postseason is a champion versus champion game with the Ivy League.

But after Tulane and Rice, who else would sign up?

Wake Forest, Duke, Vanderbilt, perhaps Tulsa, Emory might be amenable as they from time to time consider scholarship sports. You really just need 1 more to have the required 8 to form a conference.

I know that right now Wake, Duke, and Vandy seem unreachable, but the constant spending for the football arms race takes a toll. If we move to partial payment of athletes I could see any of them opting out if the option carried the standing that a Magnolia League might offer, particularly if Baseball and Basketball remained D1.

And if the pay model does switch to actual viewers the pressure on them would be even greater as conference mates would start to resent that disparity of contribution to the overall wealth. Perhaps at that point Northwestern could be considered as well.

And if non profit status is ever at stake that could be a motive as well.

From the link:

Quote:While Emmert might not have learned about Nassar until years after his meeting with Redmond and Murphy, it’s possible that more rigorous NCAA scrutiny of the Michigan State athletic department in 2010 would have stopped Nassar much earlier than in our timeline and thus spared some of his victims.

There is not a way Emmert survives this. If he could have prevented abuse, he deserves to lose more than his job.

And the GOP with its big money donors and "supply side" economic voodoo BS has destroyed America since 1980.

Lets just call it even and stop the political posts.

The DNC had nothing to do with JFK. It was more likely the backers of the Federal Reserve. But the thread is derailed & closed.
