In my ideal society, private-sector unions would be as strong, vibrant and influential as private-sector corporations.

Public-sector (i.e., government) unions would not exist at all.

I'm very hopeful that Janus vs. AFSCME will be a big nail in the coffin for public-sector unions.

Anything? Unions were a buffer to fascism. That is being erased. I am worried about our middle class. I always saw the warts of unions as a necessary evil. I have no ill conceived notions of their problems but when you say their time is passed. I say they have never been needed more.

Not really. There was a time when the corporate world backed Republicans and labor backed Democrats. The corporate interests learned long ago to buy off both sides. What you are really left with is Democrats talking like they back labor, but behind their backs playing both sides.

I understand this, but let's not throw the baby out with the bath water.

Let's not make the nonmembers pay for the baby. Seems logical to me.

As long as unions continue to protect poor performers; and undermine/deter its members who want to work harder than its other members to try to get ahead, unions are not helping business or the people who need to actually be protected.

I get that there are businesses who take advantage of their employees, but in today's society the individual has a lot of power to ask or leave. Any business which treats their people that poorly will die all by itself without its employees having to pay for protection - crooked protection.

Unions Suck......

Apparently today is the day the Supreme Court makes a ruling. I don't agree with having to pay union dues if you're not in the union and then that money goes to political candidates I don't agree with. At least if you join the NRA and decide your money I'd being wasted on candidates you don't like you don't have to keep paying.

Not a stolen seat. Just playing by the rules Joe Biden set.

You guys suck at this. You change the rules so you can win the game then get angry when someone does it you. Thoughts Billy Bob:

the idea that a government employee needs a union is laughable.

The idea that a government employee has to pay dues even though they're not union and then those dues are used to help fund campaigns is funny.

Today is oral arguments for the case. It will be months before a decision is handed down.
