Was it true that Tubby was looking to leave last year... - Joe1 - 02-18-2018 03:36 PM

possibly for another job, because he wasn’t happy here? There was some talk about it. Anyone know much about that?

He’s not leaving on his own.

-$3m + a year
-Doesn’t have to recruit
-No expectations from his bosses
-Doesn’t have to do any PR work

At this point, Rudd & Bowen might as well let him finish his 5 years and then hire Saul as coach.

Thought I'd throw this in. During Tubby's rough run toward the end of his UK tenure, he was seeking other jobs. He was actually talking to Minnesota while telling UK's administration he was considering a staff change (Tubby was told to change his staff or be fired, the year he left).

He left UK without a word to anyone, not even his boss. He didn't tell the players or talk to them when he left. I believe he did the same thing to TT.

There is a lot about Tubby that the media wont touch. He gets the benefit of the doubt over and over, and the bad parts left unsaid.

If Tubby sees an end to his time in Memphis coming he wont adapt or work to fix anything, he will work on finding his next victim.

I'm a UK fan but hope Memphis does well in conference. Don't give him longer believing it will turn around. Even if it does it's fools gold, he wont sustain it.

I really don't see him taking another job. Any job at this point would be a low level one. Id think he would just retire unless it somehow benifited saul.

IF Tubby goes behind the fanbase's back and lands another job like you say there will be hell to pay. Our fans will be OUTRAGED.

I can't imagine any other school that would want him as a head coach. He's not good at PR so I doubt he would be good as an administrator. Well I guess he's all ours.

Tubby is the biggest fraud to ever exist in college basketball. 100% pure fool's gold.

RE: Was it true that Tubby was looking to leave last year... - snowtiger - 02-18-2018 03:57 PM

Good thing is we don’t need to imagine it for it to happen.

Most folks who are in-the-know say that we found Tubby through a search firm. Odds are he’s still listed as available.

Say you are an AD or College Prez looking for a HOF coach who ain’t had no wins vacated and took some teams to the tourney....?

And don’t forget, the announcers talk him up, sing his praises every game we play and many of the games Texas tech plays.

Memphis fans impatient!

Tubby perfect for a gym near you!
BAM!!

To answer your question, yes. You think he recruits bad? He is just as bad at getting himself other jobs. He was turned down (not given mutual interest) for quite a few per 247. I can't remember the name of the thread, but it actually gave me hope until all the jobs were filled. 03-banghead

We all heard the same things when josh was here. He wouldn’t leave, he wouldn’t be fired, no way he would get another job etc. etc.

We’ll soon find out what happens. I’ve said I don’t think he’s coming back. That’s just my opinion. We’ll see what happens but all the hand wringing in the world does nothing at this point.

Unless Tubby makes a tremendous turn around next season, his only options will be retirement or a HBCU job.

If he leaves on his own I don't care if he says goodbye or not.

I can't think of any scenarios where he will be back. Both sides will use common sense to make it happen.

You meant letting JOSH go, not hiring Tubby.

You really think TS walks away from nearly $10m?
