Houston in the 8/9? Ridiculous... - C2__ - 02-19-2018 05:42 PM

The season's not over and the brackets aren't set. UH may not even Dance as unlikely as that seems now.

But how ridiculous is it that UH can only jump 1-3 lines after the week they just had?

Shouldn't have lost to Drexel ?????

Finish the regular season 2-2. Lose in the second round of the conference tournament. Miss the NCAA. Too many years of not making it has turned me into a pessimist.

weak ooc sos and losing to drex doesn't help

we are a lock at 2-2.. thats 23-7, top 40rpi ..thats a virtual lock, losing out is the only way we get knocked out...if we beat memphis IMO we are a guaranteed lock regardless of what happens after...games aren't weighed when they are played, which is why drexel still hurts us despite it being our first game with the full roster and us being a different team now....
but it would benefit us if we lost 3 more now..momentum going into the tourney isnt equated

Unbelievable

Others get the benefit of doubt losing to one bad team. Houston "should" be safe as long as they don't get a late season melt down.

What are some examples of the bad losses?

Look at the NCAA nitty-gritty sheet. There are not a lot of teams with Q4 losses: https://extra.ncaa.org/solutions/rpi/Stats%20Library/Feb.%2018,%202018%20Nitty%20Gritty.pdf

Just remember, your whole essay is (or should) be evaluated, not just one recent week.

With that said, I’d put Houston as a 6 right now, with room to move up.

Houston is a lock without a meltdown. Now if they lose 3 of 4 than they are out.

8/9 with room to move up. Too many years as a 2nd/ third place finisher and getting the 8/9.

You mean way back in November?

But yeah, those bad losses are something else, although they could be rendered moot with a strong finish.

i don't care about seed as long as we are in...my wish is all 3 get in different brackets

honestly there isn't a "great" team this year, every single team this year looks vulnerable..the teams with the undeniable stars arent very good..im comfortable at any seed..im more curious about how we match up

With how Sampson has his young men performing right now I doubt we see a meltdown.

That Drexel game was a horrible loss. Obviously it was a fluke game, as was the Tulane game, but they're still a part of our resume. As long as we make the tourney it really doesn't matter where we're seeded. There really aren't any dominant teams this year, so pretty much every team that makes the tourney this year has a chance.

Wichita State made it to the Final Four as a 9 seed. You gotta play those top seeds sometime or beat the teams that beat them.

Seeding matters, but not NEARLY as much as the teams you are matched up with. Just get in and see what happens.

If UH finishes 2-3, they're still in, though it would be a close call.

Wichita didn't match up well with Gonzaga, they just got ridiculously hot late in the game.

Newbies don't get benefit. Chaney's first Owl team with 30+ victories went something like 32-4 and got an 8 or 9 seed. When he complained, the committee said something like "Play somebody".
