Through 2016-17 season UL was #27 in all time wins at 1680.

Now they will be out of the top 50 at 1,457

UC was #15 at 1,757

So is this there penalty or is there more to come? I know they imposed some sanctions themselves. The ncaa is very difficult to follow for obvious reasons. My guess is they have not laid down the probation/scholly loss boom yet?

Didn't Louisville spend a season in the AAC? I'm wondering if those tournament shares/revenues will be coming back to the conference coffers.

Also, is this it or are there tournament bans or scholarship limitations in store for the Cardinals? If this is everything, I would think hiring a coach (such as Chris Mack) just got a lot easier.

Does UL still get into the ACC without those runs? I'm the long run, say 15 years from now, when our programs have been shriveled up to the level of a FCS school, and they are sitting pretty raking in ACC money, who really loses in the end? I would only care if they got the boot from the ACC and the ACC replaced them with us.

Spot on. Vacating wins/championships is the lamest, most toothless, form of punishment the NCAA applies. It's like they save the vacating wins thing strictly for the power schools.

That's one thing that really bothers me about all of these scandals. Playing in a P5 and getting a media payout $35-50M, having a direct access to the CFP, and all other benefits that come with it should be a privilege. There are a lot of schools sitting just outside the P5 like UC, UConn, BYU, Houston, etc. that could easily replace the likes of Baylor and Louisville, and their conferences and the media would not lose out one bit. In some cases it would be a net positive.

Listen, I'm not going to go as far as say it is meaningless. I personally enjoy looking at our accomplishments (Championships, final 4s, win totals, etc), and knowing they are all legitimate. But yes, the fact they will end up still with all the P5 monetary benefits because of this, well that stings some. Our athletics were basically on part before Pitino arrived, and they have been propelled into the ACC since while we wait our slow death in this Mickey Mouse leage.

On a side note, think of all the Daville fans with 2013 Championship paraphernalia that is now poo. Maybe they and USC fans can form a recovery network.

That is true. It's really the money and CF4 thing, otherwise I'm cool either the AAC.

Tom Creen tonight called the penalties meaningless. He said it won't be meaningful until coaches are banned.

I believe this UofL punishment does include a show-cause penalty that follows Ricky P. It's about as close to being banned as I've seen.

Meaningless as I doubt Tricky had or has any desire to coach at another college.
