this game will be a blood bath. UConn should just stay in Connecticut. No chance they keep it competitive tonight

I kind of feel bad that UConn is being fed to the wolves like this. If Cincy is the team I think they are I expect it get ugly.

And if it is not ugly, we (Memphis) will only be damaging a conference team's seeding, etc.

Houston is in good position to dice up our zone. Hopefully, they will miss open threes.

I don't understand why we only play Memphis once this year? How is this kind of thing decided? Does it have to do with which teams are projected to be good or not?

We don't have "divisions" in basketball, but we're still dividing up who plays whom twice or once for some other arbitrary reason?

It is based on anticipated strength - they stack the strongest teams to play each other twice and the weakest teams once to maximize opportunities for resume enhancing victories. It's a smart approach.

I don't think that's a foregone conclusion. Memphis has already competed with Wichita and Cincy for 30+ minutes at home and Houston is the most erratic of the league's Top 3.

So far, away from home this season, Houston has...

-lost to a bad Drexel team
-lost to a mediocre Tulane team
-lost decisively at Wichita (were down by 25 at one point in 1st half)
-blew an 18 point first half lead and lost by double digits at Cincy

While I still expect Houston to win tonight. Memphis shouldn't count themselves out from the jump.

Oh believe you me, I'd love to be wrong but I've watched us fade down the stretch against bigger name opponents too many times this year.

Not arbitrary. The AAC ranks teams ahead of the new schedule, and makes sure all the top teams play each other twice. This enhances their RPI, gives them a chance at more quality wins, and showcases the AAC.

Give me awhile, and I'll look at this year's schedule and see who played whom how many times. That should make it fairly clear, if I am correct.

They bet on Ollie is my guess.

I wonder if in addition to trying to match the anticipated strongest teams up against each other if each team will be matched up against a geographic rival twice a year regardless of relative strength.
