The tragic death of such a fine young man as Blain Padgett is so terribly sad. My prayers are with his family and friends. I know the Owl community is suffering. My thoughts are with you all.

Very sad news. You could tell from watching the competition yesterday and Friday that the Rice athletes were all in a state of shock. For some type of closure, I'd like to find out what happened, but I'd understand if the family wants to keep it private too.

Did I read that he died in his sleep? Was it believed to be a blood clot or something?
