This is the America the Trump administration has brought upon us - Machiavelli - 03-06-2018 04:57 AM

Read this article and tell me this makes you proud? This is the people he has hired. These are the people who represents him.

This has happened 53 other times as a deterrent?

Quote:Rather, S.S.’s 39-year-old mother presented herself and her daughter to U.S. officials when they crossed the border from Mexico four months ago, explaining they had fled extreme violence in (from the) Congo, and requesting asylum.

This is why illegal immigration is being targeted by this administration so aggressively. This illustrates a point that we already know is common place - that the people crossing the border illegally can easily be people who are NOT from Mexico. This is a major security breach that our dick heads in charge have ignored for way too long.

I don't recall Trump running on that. He did run on deporting illegal aliens. Maybe S. Africa will take them or Wakanda.

Why would the family have to travel all the way to Mexico and then illegally cross if they are refugees? There are a couple of stable African nations already not to mention access to Europe would be a whole lot easier than crossing an ocean to Mexico and then crossing a border illegally.

I hate to be that guy, but you cannot pull personal stories and try to build policy - or change policy - based on them. If we did, then we'd have a mess on our hands regarding policy on a whole slew of issues. Effective policy is driven by statistics - not by personal stories.

You don't seem to understand. That is what Democrats do. Their whole modus operandi. Somebody got shot, "let's ban guns!" Somebody's life got ruined because they committed a crime, "let's not put so many people in prison!"

If our southern border wasn't a sieve that illegals routinely cross with moderate risk at best of being caught - then this situation would have never happened in the first place. Policy should never be crafted based on individual personal stories.

I get it. But a quick list off the top of my head of more stable countries this mom and daughter could have taken asylum in that were MUCH closer. From the Congo to Mexico and illegally crossing into the U.S.??? Hello....Europe??? Seems the former owners of colonies need to step up to the plate...

Check this site out: http://fundforpeace.org/fsi/data/. Sort in ascending order and you'll see who are the most stable countries. You'll see that the U.S. is not the most stable country. For asylum seekers from the Congo, you'd think that they would have a safer journey to the UK, France, Germany, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Austria, Italy, etc...

You know, no families would be split up if folks didn't come illegally in the first place.
