armour, I am a HS Sr-to-be...... I think I have a good shot at Michigan with a 3.65 (all level 1 classes) a 1380 SAT, and a good amount o f extracurriculars....... Both my parents, my older sister, and other relatives are all alumni...... Unfortunately, I live in PA (OOS) and we all know Michigan's infamous affirmative action policy (I'm white), but I hope that those 2 factors won't be too much of a negative impact.
If you're just testing to see if I'm a bandwagoner, then I tell you that I'm not..... The only FB game I've been to was last year's Minnesota game (what a thrill it was to see Henne throw for all 80 yards of a game-winning drive capped off with a TD pass on the side of the stadium I was at), but I was at the 2004 NITCG where Michigan defeated Rutgers, despite the fact that the crowd was %90 Scarlet Knights fans, which is understandable considering RU's proximity to MSG. Seeing those fans walk out with the color of their faces matching their clothing was kind of funny...... This year I'll be at the Michigan - Notre Dame and Wisconsin games....... If I get into Michigan I'll try out for their marching band, and I do know the words to "The Victors" (not just "hail") and I even know how to play it in the right key.
Anyways, for those of you coming to Ann Arbor, I hope you have a good time, even if the game itself doesn't turn out as good as you want it to....... I realize that it could end up really close to the end like 02 Utah and 04 SDSU were able to do, but bear in mind that it could just as well be a blowout like 04 Miami OH and 02 Houston, which were both comparable teams to NIU.
I think if NIU is going to make it close, good QB play is essential..... if he is a running threat as well as a decent passer like Vince Young, Troy Smith, and Drew Stanton than all the better...... If your WRs are any good then they'll be able to make a few plays against Michigan's suspect 2ndary...... Defensively, LB play will be critical b/c Mike Hart and 2 other good RBs will get a lot of carries to try to wear out the DLine, but also the LBs will have to be good in pass coverage and blitzing or Henne will not have too much difficulty in delivering the ball to Steve Breaston and Jason Avant...... Neither is Braylon Edwards, of course, but if you are familiar with either, then you know that Breaston is similar to Ted Ginn in his playmaking ability and agility and Avant is a very good possession receiver....... both had injuries last year and were off and on, but they're both healthy now..... I do think Wolfe and Harris will both get a decent bit of production, though, as long as the passing game is effective enough to keep Michigan from stacking the box.
Enough rambling..... 46 more days.....
