Texas poll showing how your fan base actually views Houston
Interesting to see the results from a legitimate service instead of hard headed message board crazies making up statistics.
Texas leads the state in college sports loyalty with 26% to 16% for Texas A&M, 12% for Houston, 9% for Texas Tech, and 6% each for Baylor and Texas Christian.
Both Longhorn fans (36/9 approval for Charlie Strong) and Aggie fans (38/9 approval for Kevin Sumlin) give pretty limited support to their coaches- there aren't that many totally unhappy with them but there aren't too many thrilled with them either.
43% of voters in the state support allowing Houston to join the Big 12 to only 7% who are opposed to that. What's maybe more interesting though is how fans in the state's existing Big 12 fan bases feel about adding Houston- Texas fans support it 47/5, Texas Tech fans support it 56/10, Baylor fans support it 67/3, and TCU fans support it 65/1. It's safe to say there's not much resistance at least from the fans of rival schools for letting the Cougars in.
Also some politics as well Texans vs Cowboys info.

RE: Texas poll showing how your fan base actually views Houston
Fans in the same state are in favor of allowing Houston in, but fans in Oklahoma would love to see Tulsa, Central Oklahoma, East Central Oklahoma or SW Oklahoma State into the conference, does not mean others from other states want them. Fans do travel if there are more instate rivals to play every year. It is something that I have been saying for a long time. Colorado, Arkansas, New Mexico, LSU, Missouri, Iowa, Wyoming, Colorado State, Minnesota, West Virginia, Houston, SMU, UTEP, Rice, UTSA and so forth are not in the right conferences for regional wise.

If true, Oklahoma would need to do nothing more than promote them as their "preferred" selection in order to make them a clubhouse leader to land a slot.

Wow. Real honest to goodness hard statistical data on a message board. Good Lord, surely you must realize you're going to ruin everyone's fun by using facts....

since they asked about Houston joining the Big12, I am surprised they did not ask about San Antonio getting an NFL team.

Well that settles it. Texas schools want Houston, Oklahoma schools would want Tulsa. Sign them up and wait for Gor to expire. Travel time easy except for WVU. Maybe Witchata state could replace Them to make Kansas happy. Sorry Iowa st. Not much help left. Lol

Since you are at least indirectly responding to a DavidSt post, you really shouldn't ignore Northern Iowa. In DavidSt.'s alternative universe, I don't reckon that FCS to Big12 ought to be too big of a jump.

LSU is very much in the right conference - what people forget is that a significant portion of Alabama (the state) is closer to Baton Rouge than it is to Alabama (the university).
The Texas schools in C-USA are in the right place. What C-USA needs is a wholesale swap with the Sun Belt. For example, send Texas State, Louisiana, and Arkansas State to C-USA in exchange for Charlotte, ODU, and Marshall. If you threw South Alabama and ULM in there (over Louisiana Tech's dead body) then C-USA could part with the Floridian deadweight.

It is not new for a MVC team moving to the Big 8 before. Oklahoma, Okie State, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Iowa, Iowa State, Grinnell, Wash. Mo. did it in the past. So, nothing would surprise me these days since MVC is actually the parent conference to the Big 12.
