August 26th is the fight in Las Vegas. Until then, let the hype begin. I will not be one of the persons choosing to pay around $100 to watch it on PPV. My prediction is McGregor will get some shots in early in the fight but Mayweather is a professional, experienced, world champion boxer for a reason. He will eventually knock out or TKO McGregor. Both men walk away making many, multiple millions.
Want McGregor to beat the everliving snot out of Mayweather, but Floyd the former will probably just win in a boring, overhyped fight like always. Definitely won't pay $50 or whatever it is for PPV.
I think McGregor can take hits from Mayweather. I think if McGregor can go crazy on him in some way he'll break Mayweather and win. I just hope McGregor can remember its BOXING and not MMA.

Yep. Mayweather is a horrible human being so I'd love nothing more than to see McGregor knock him out, or even just hurt the guy. But have you seen McGregor's boxing? It's laughable. And Mayweather is a defensive master - maybe the best of all time. The only chance McGregor has, and it's a slim one, is to goad Mayweather into going for a KO. If Floyd makes some terrible mistakes, McGregor's got a brawler's chance.
This thing is being promoted by PT Barnum. I learned not to pay for fights after the Tyson-Holyfield debacle. No way I'd put down money (I think it's gonna be $100) to watch a poorly trained boxer go up against a guy who is the best in the game at avoiding hits.
McGregor isn't a boxer. Period. Mayweather might well be the best boxer ever in his weight class.
Mayweather hasn't knocked anybody out in over a decade, but over the last decade he has been fighting other boxers.
Mayweather is either going to make EXTREMELY short work of McGregor, or it is going to be an incredibly boring unanimous decision in favor of Floyd Mayweather Jr.
McGregor is the king of head games. He has even sucked in troll Draymond Green...
Quote:When it comes to the Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather debate, Draymond Green has made it loud and clear where he stands.
The Warriors All-Star forward responded to a photo of McGregor in a Warriors No. 23 jersey by posting the photo on Instagram with a caption that read: "We rocking with Floyd bro not you...take that off bruh."
Draymond, who wears the same number seen by McGregor on social media, was happy to tell the MMA star to kick the can as a Mayweather supporter. But McGregor clapped back on his post by saying that the No. 23 jersey actually belonged to C.J. Watson, and suggesting that he "keep hustling and stay in school."
Why would McGregor wear a Watson jersey if he's not a basketball fan?
The MMA star is heckling Mayweather's domestic violence history. Via USA Today:
Mayweather spent time in prison for battering Josie Harris, mother to three of his children, in September 2010. Having split with Harris, she says he entered her home in the middle of the night and was infuriated to find messages from NBA player C.J. Watson on her phone. Mayweather's son Koraun, then 10, told the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department that he had seen his father on top of Harris -- hitting and kicking her.
You can't go to someone's job and beat them at what they've been paid to do since they were teenagers. This is like a baseball player going to Trinidad and trying to win at cricket or a rugby player trying to be the best at football. A spades player on the world series of poker.
Floyd is a master of boxing. Boxers that he's fought have said that he has ungodly awareness in the ring. He's calm in the ring and McGregor won't be able to goad him into a mistake.

Don't disagree and I stand by my prediction that Mayweather wins the fight. I do see a few wildcards though that gives McGregor a shot, albeit a narrow one. One, you can't teach punching power and McGregor has that. Mayweather is known for his defensive acumen but I don't know that he has faced someone recently with this kind of knockout power. On the flip, Mayweather is more of a boxing technician and he last won by knockout in 2011 (he's fought 7 times since then).
Second, Mayweather is 40 years old. Let me repeat, 40 years old. Conor is 29 and used to training for MMA fights where every part of your body is used for offense and defense. Here, he can focus on upper body and would seem to have the stamina to last into the later rounds.
Third, Conor has been actively fighting while Mayweather is coming out of retirement and hasn't fought in about two years. Granted, it isn't like he doesn't know how to train and how to get his body and mind in shape for the fight but you have to at least consider that this could play a factor.
Quote:Experts and pundits are in rare unanimity over the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Conor McGregor superfight. McGregor, they say, has absolutely no chance.
With the fight a month away, people are betting on it, and … what do you know? They’re betting on McGregor.
“The odds for this fight were first released in November 2016 when it was still just a rumor,” said Joe Osborne, content manager for OddsShark, a sports gambling information site. McGregor started out about 9½-1.
The lure of winning $9 or $10 for a dollar bet on McGregor seemed to be much greater than betting a huge amount to win a little on Mayweather. The McGregor money started coming in, and drove down his price, eventually to as low as 3½-1.
Dave Mason, a spokesman for the wagering site Betonline.ag, said 89 percent of his book’s bets have been on McGregor.
McGregor is Irish, and his popularity with bettors may even be greater overseas. “McGregor has shortened up as punters are incredibly patriotic over here for ‘one of their own,’” said Jessica Bridge, head of public relations at the British-based gambling company Ladbrokes.
So what’s going on? Do bettors know something that every prognosticator in the world doesn’t?
One thing to consider is that this is not a normal fight. It’s more like a spectacle, getting heavy coverage in places that don’t usually pay much attention to boxing. “Any big fight like this attracts a lot of casual bettors, a lot of people who don’t bet on boxing normally, and they love to take the underdog and hope for the big payout or the big knockout,” said OddsShark’s sports analyst, Jon Campbell.
The McGregor bandwagon seems to be driven largely by smaller stakes gamblers. “Due to the odds being so lopsided, you need to bet big to win big on Mayweather,” Bridge said. “So larger wagers are being placed on him. But more individual wagers of smaller amounts have been placed on Notorious.”
Scott Cooley, a spokesman for Bookmaker.eu, saw a similar pattern. “The wager handle is tilted toward McGregor, 75-25, as most of the smaller wagers are on the underdog side.”
“The public is certainly siding with McGregor because they like the value, but we have wiseguys on both sides of this fight,” he said. “There are highly respected players that believe McGregor has a good chance to upset Mayweather. Whether that trend continues over the next month remains to be seen.”
Many bookmakers expect the odds to swing back as the Aug. 26 fight approaches and smart gamblers see an opportunity to bet on Mayweather at a good price. Mason said he thought the true odds on the fight should be more like 20-1. “I think we’re going to see the sharper bettors come in later,” he said.
The one-way nature of the money so far has some books a little worried.
“We’re going to be huge Floyd Mayweather fans,” Mason said. He said it was likely to be the most important moment financially for his site at least since the Super Bowl. (The bookies lost that one. Players bet the Patriots, and they won.)
All the bookmakers say the action is hot and heavy on this fight.
“It’s as big as the big fights get,” Bridge said. “Despite this arguably not being a ‘normal’ boxing match, punters do not care in the slightest and they cannot wait for the fight to get underway.”
Osbourne said, “This will be by far the biggest fight ever bet.” He said it could double the money wagered on the Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight of 2015 and perhaps equal the betting on the Super Bowl. “Compared to other big fights, there is no comparison. Mayweather vs. McGregor is the biggest for how much money has been bet this far in advance.”
Cooley said of his book: “We aren’t quite to the Mayweather-Pacquiao volume yet. But limits will be raised and betting will pick up as the fight nears, so we certainly expect to exceed that fight’s total handle well in advance of Aug. 26.”
There is not necessarily wisdom in crowds. Though many eager players are betting on McGregor, he may still be overmatched against the boxing legend Mayweather, as the experts predict.
Maybe it’s wishful thinking, but an awful lot of fans like McGregor, and they are willing to put up their money to prove it.

He has. Even a more powerful one. But even moreso in boxing, it's how you deliver in the ring being the key part. I agree that of any MMA fighter Mayweather's size, to have a chance against any Pro Boxer as his 1st fight, McGregor's the best. But at the same time, it's Mayweather. Not merely a seasoned pro boxer who would surely get floored by Mayweather, and would surely floor McGregor (but who McGregor could be a wild-card-ya-never-technically-know against).
It IS boxing, so one huge punch by any relatively young, Tough wildcard of a fighter coming in -- MMA guy or not -- at least gives one a theoretical chance. But the WORST chances said type of person would have, is to fight the best Defensive boxer and on-the-fly strategist in the ring Ever -- and that's Mayweather. The ONLY upside for McGregor to have it A Little close to just fighting "a good pro boxer" where he Would have a BAD chance, but a theoretical chance nonetheless -- is that Mayweather hasn't fought in 2 years and he's 40, thus possibly not close enough to the top of his game.
And I'm going on the positive side for McGregor, here. :)
It'd be like a 5-7 Sunbelt team talking smack non-stop to Alabama in how they're going to crush them, because even though they're 5-7, they have a QB with an arm and time to come up with some crazy plays. :)

Typically 3 rounds but can go to 5. Remember that MMA is full contact with kicks and body throws in addition to punching. McGregor is in tremendous shape so I don't know that 5 rounds will completely exhaust him.
