Oh, don't worry. When we're settled into Conference Season, you'll see Tuesday & Wednesday games. :) With no crowds outside the student sections (because other people have jobs).
Hey now. Toledo hosts NIU midweek this season. That game always draws north of 20k at Toledo. North of 6k in Dekalb.
NIU grads have jobs
Done at 4 or 5 pm you should be able make a 7pm game from Chicago.
Aurora or Naperville even faster.
You're forgetting we are on central time. These are 6 pm start times. Would need to leave work in Chicago by 3:30 if you were going straight to the game. Picking up family and/or friends, take half a day off of work. Absurd!!!!
But they havent been over the past 7 years??
Of course this leaves no time for tailgating. Tailgating would mean leaving work by 2 pm or earlier (see comment on friends and family above). And the impact of these early weeknight games on DeKalb business means no one is eating in restaurants or shopping the stores.
You can hardly buy alcohol in gas stations in Illinois, who cares about the local businesses for 4 hours? They cant be impacting biz that much if only 8k are showing up??? Imagine the local biz in Columbus or Ann Arbor? Must be shutting down!!
By the way, most people will arrive home to watch the game at Toledo somewhere in the middle of the second quarter.
Dont live in Chicago then!
And national coverage? Who on the west coast is watching NIU at Toledo starting at 3:00 pm?
Who in the west coast cares about us anyway? Not really our market...
