Could Rhodie miss the Dance?
This is their second straight bad loss. Davidson is a good team on the court but for these purposes, it's a bad loss.
If they aren't careful, they could slip out with an early exit from the A-10 Tournament.

RE: Could Rhode miss the Dance?
Their best wins are over Bonna and Providence, both on the fence. Otherwise, lots of empty calories.

Looks like the team got wind of Hurley leaving, and revolted.

Leaving to where? Ole Miss? ECU? UTEP?
Seems like he’d be a weird fit at Louisville, but I could be totally wrong.

Rhode Island’s RPI is 16. I have no doubt the P6 members (half the committee last year) will consider conspiring to leave the A10 out but there’s just not an avenue to exclude Rhode Island.
Last year the top 4 non-Gonzaga mid majors played each other Round 1. Maybe they’ll be smart and pull that trick again.

RPI is meaningless other than grouping teams together. What are the highlights of Rhode Island's profile? They are few and far between.

That's only one of the metrics the committee says it's using. URI's KenPom ranking is #47. SOS is decent but not stellar, #62. (In contrast, another bubblicious team in the same state, Providence, has an SOS of #20.)
Still, if the bracket guys' consensus is right, URI has enough of a cushion that even with a late-season tailspin they will still be in the NCAA field. If Oklahoma is somehow still projected to be in the field despite losing 10 of their last 14 games, then 2 or 3 losses near the end of the season won't be enough to keep URI out.

as much as I don't want to defend URI, they are currently ranked. It is unlikely losing to Davidson is going to drop them from top 20 rank to out of the tourney.

I think they're in but a loss to an 8 seed or lower in the A-10 Tournament would drop them to a double digit seed.

Ranked teams have been left out of the tournament before. Happened to SMU a few years ago.
