Deadspin roasted him pretty good. Kept calling him a quitter since he's quit every HC job he's ever had except Minnesota.

Maybe the University that a player transfers to should have to reimburse the original school the cost of the player's scholarship moving forward (including the stipends and all) since the player would essentially be breaking a contract just like the coach would.

Player "buyouts" would come into effect.

Coaches don't have to sit out a year either.

IMO we do have too many kids transfer and i'd bet that a fair chunk of them probably do so for the wrong reasons. I was young and stupid once and was lucky to have folks around me that kept me from quitting various endeavors. Unfortunately not everyone is that lucky. Having said that, every one of these kids has the right to transfer if they so choose and I don't want to see any kind of additional restrictions placed on them. The decision is theirs and they will learn from it one way or the other.

Didn't they mention that?

Scholarships are renewable 1 year contracts. I believe both parties can opt out after each year, but the player has a 1 year "no compete" clause if he/she exercises their right.

Which I think we should do for coaches as well.

That would be something if Coach's had to sit out a year before leaving

Solution: Salary cap on coaches. No compete clauses on coaches. Make the transfer rules harder. Make all athletic scholarships have to transfer into academic scholarships in case of player injury (with good academic standing at the university)

Naw they can leave right away. They can practice just like a player transfer.

No game coaching, no going off campus to recruit.

Every school should have to interview Ollie for any athletic coaching position.

I understand where some of him is coming from but on the other hand - does he really expect someone to not be able to change jobs ?

Hell - HE HIMSELF has changed jobs. A bit of rich irony there.

I’ve always liked Tubby, but he is NOT the person to make that comment.

Mark Few, Coach K, yes....Tubby, no.

I'm thinking Tubby's opinion is pretty much moot at this point. He has had his legs cut out from under him even before the AACT starts.

Should make for great incentive for Memphis this week, lol. Not.

IN all honesty, his legs were cut out from under him once Lomax committed to WSU and Harris delayed committing. If he had signed either one, he would be safe.

Knowing when to quit is actually a really important and valuable life skill.

So really the NCAA is preparing these kids for their lives after college athletics.
