NMSU coaches carousel favors Liberty
More grumblings on the SBC boards with the announcement of the DC and OC leaving the NMSU program. Liberty continues to be in the discussion as a full member with some previous anti LU posters changing their tune. The tone of the posts run from take LU because of their strength and assets to the continual LU doesn't fit, Prez will never give them votes, yada, yada, yada.
New Mexico State was 2-10 this year with wins against FCS Cal-Poly and GaState with an average of 12,400 per game in a 31,000 seat stadium. Idaho at 1-11, had their only win against NMSU. Idaho averages 12,900 a game. Even though GaState at 1-11 had a down year, they will succeed and improve in the future and have a great upside unlike NMSU or Idaho. LU, with an improving home schedule, even in the lame/weak/bottom run BSC minus Coastal, is likely to break attendance records exceeding 19,000 or near capacity. This is playing mostly poor Big South Conference teams.
What these SBC posters don't get is the lightning rod that Liberty is. Just ask JMU or Richmond how pumped they were NOT to lose to LU in 2014 or ODU the year before. With Liberty's position/brand comes recognition and notoriety, some favorable, some unfavorable. If the majority of LU nay sayers on the SBC boards are correct, which I don't believe the are, LU will never be a SBC or FBS member.
If the passion from the nay sayers on this board, is equal at the game once we finally play, LU is going to a fantastic fit in the SBC. LU will travel well, play a better brand of FB than the lower/down SBC teams, and be the one team your team hates to lose to. And we put fannies in the seats, both at home and on the road.
FBS affiliation for LU is coming and it's getting closer all the time.
