That's why I continue to believe it is a disservice to those of you who serve as moderators for you to be burdened with that being public knowledge. When you as a mod have to act in that role the person you are dealing with should only know that "Moderator #6" is the one doing the moderating, not JRsec. That would prevent a bunch of the accusations of bias, especially when you have to moderate something in a thread you have already participated in.

Anybody who has ever moderated a message board knows it is a thankless job already. No need to pile on the misery by making it personal.

I saw you post that before and I find the prospect intriguing. I can see the benefits. There would still be accountability if you could only moderate with your number. And yeah for good and for ill you get treated differently when people know you are a mod. It would allow more freedom. There are times when you post your opinions as a person, and as you point out because of them, those who think differently assume bias if you have to deal with them.
