I’d like to see the Carolina schools switch it up every now and then like UNC vs Duke and State vs Wake. Maybe even UNC vs Wake and State vs Duke when they’re scheduled.

Danyell Ferguson's mother said West Virginia fans were so hostile she feared for her life while seated in a police car behind an ambulance that was taking her injured son to a hospital during the first half of Saturday's game in Morgantown, W.Va.

"I was in fear of my life, and I'm a police officer," Doris Ferguson said.

Danyell, a senior running back, dislocated his hip in the first quarter of the Hurricanes' 10-7 victory. UM officials said Sunday that the ambulance was rocked and nearly tipped over outside the stadium with Ferguson in it

Ferguson, a Miami police officer, said she did not see fans rocking the ambulance because she was told by the police officer to duck down and out of sight for safety reasons. He was concerned because she was wearing a UM football jersey.

Ferguson said she was in the squad car of a Pittsburgh area policeman, who had escorted the team from the Pittsburgh airport. She said she heard angry fans beating on the ambulance.

Ferguson said the Pittsburgh officer turned on his siren-lights to prevent West Virginia fans from surrounding the ambulance, but she said they challenged his authority.

"They were screaming,`You have no jurisdiction here. You're from Pittsburgh.'"
