The biggest difference in the NCAA tourney between D1 and D2 is that D2 is truly broken down by regions. You can be the 9th best team in the country, but if that also means you're the 9th best team in your region, you won't qualify for the tourney.

For instance, the Lone Star Conference in whichever WTAMU is apart of is in the South Central Region, along with the Heartland and RMAC. In order per Massey, they are #2, #8, and #13.

The Central Region looks to be the toughest, with the #1, #3, and #9 conferences.
