More seriously, both time zones and daylight time should probably be done away with altogether. Florida has an easy choice by doing away with daylight time without the need for congressional approval. That would be more in line with other states, but I don't know what real benefit there is to be an outlier in the Atlantic Standard time zone.

I'd be all in favor of having Texas move to UTC+0. Sunrise at around noon, sunset at midnight. I can adjust, and it would make a lot of things simpler and more intuitive.
