Cynics will say she played the fawning woman, but I'd say Peter Quill was equally portrayed as the fawning man, so I'm not sure there's a difference. And her character was pretty badass anyway.

So after all this we'll be seeing Black Panther in Civil War, which makes sense to people who can think clearly. It's extremely difficult to introduce him in his own movie, so they used the whole Vibranium thing to bring him on board.

The bold is a great point that I don't think many people with actual knowledge of Marvel Comics appreciate. Mutants were the House of Ideas answer to diversity in comics. I would say that in terms of black characters that Storm and Bishop easily are more well known and liked over Black Panther and Blade. For most of the 90's, Carol Danvers was in a coma after Rogue had siphoned off her powers. BUt think the success Marvel generated with a little known brand like GotG has people believing that the studio can do no wrong and is the best chance to get a successful superheroine movie on the big screen.
