And they've been to as many major bowl games as UTSA. I like ECU fans, I wanted ECU instead of SMU, they seem to bring a huge fanbase in North Carolina. But facts is facts. ECU has attendance and a fanbase. UTSA has that too. ECU has been playing forever, UTSA has been playing for about five minutes. But clearly, there is a big time market in San Antonio for local college football. Can that get UTSA to the big time? I don't know, but they've got a better chance than 90% of the lower half of FBS.

The reality is East Carolina has NOT established a national name. They haven't won anything important, they haven't done anything to break into the national consciousness. They're not Boise STate, they're not TCU. They're not even Tulane, who was undefeated less than 20 years ago, or Marshall, who won a buttload of games and had a movie about them.
