Not only are you incorrect about there being Storm Troopers in the prequels (they are explicitly referred to as Clone Troopers the entirety of the prequel trilogy), but you are also wrong in the assumption that the clones didn't have original thoughts. The clones did actually have different, separate personalities and there are canonical references to Clone Troopers that actually deserted the Empire.

I only have the movies to go by. Whatever the race was that doing the cloning off Jango I would have to re-watch again because all that comes to mind is where that person mentioned some sort of thing to make them more docile and Jango's kid was unaltered.

There is some now non-canon EU that stated Clone Troopers were considered Stormtroopers immediately after Order 66. Clones did make up the first batches of Stormtroopers in the time period between III AND IV.

I'm not saying there wasn't a transition period where clones were weeded out...but they weren't once called Stormtroopers in the prequel films...and there has been much to separate The Clone Troopers and Stormtroopers in canon...including an entire subplot in the 2nd season of Star Wars Rebels.

So, my original response that "Storm Troopers have never been clones." is incorrect. My bad. In reality, what I mean to say is..."No Clones were made after the original Clone Army." None of the Storm Troopers in A New Hope and beyond were likely to be clones (as most would have died from old age or been unable to battle by then), and there certainly weren't any clones left by the time The Force Awakens takes place. Only the initial remains of the Clone Army after Order 66 would have been considered Stormtroopers...following Episode III, Stormtroopers were all recruited/trained people.

Kylo Ren even makes a joke about going back to Clone Armies after Finn deserts the First Order.
