"Established" and "fan-theorized" are two very different things.

And Dave Filoni said that he was "going to make it happen" in almost a semi-joking tone. Even if he was 100% serious as far as making that happen...Filoni doesn't have the authority to "sign off" on it. That has to go through the new Story Team at Lucasfilm...and while he has a lot of influence with canon...him saying that he's going to make it happen doesn't automatically make it so.

I personally think he was just saying it as a joke about how much he could mess with the canon because of Rebels as in the same breath that he "signed off" on it he says: "I’m getting like Palpatine, I’m getting power crazy."

A character as insignificant as that background man... I dont think the Story Group would turn it down if he wanted to make it happen. But Rex will be physically 70 unless they find a way to slow his growth... I mean, he can still fight if he's in shape. But he'd be oooold.

lol...if they do it...I want a bonus "Old Man Rex" episode of Rebels that takes place after Endor.
