But this is not the original trilogy, nor does it need to draw back to it. I was disappointed in the Force Awakens, because I literally felt at times like I was watching the script to Epsiode IV played out nearly 40 years later. I came into this expecting it to follow a format similar to Episode V, and am pleasantly surprised it didn't.

Skywalker was always going to die in this movie...you could tell that by the Title, but he didn't need to die like Kenobi did. That would have been extremely disappointing. Your trying to appease a different audience of moviegoers now than you were 40 years ago. You can't hide "Luke, I am your father" anymore. The internet would have leaked it months ago. There doesn't have to be some strange Twist. The point of Star Wars is that its supposed to be a battle between Light and Dark, and not all the parts of the light and dark have to be related.

The Maj scene was weird, but otherwise it was wonderful. They even brought Yoda back correctly to sort of foreshadow how Luke would meet his end. Luke was always more of a Yoda than a Ben, and he needed a more Yoda death.

Star Wars Fandom is sort of like America today: There are people who want to adapt and change to the way the times are now, and others who want to go back to the way life was years ago. In the end, neither side is wrong, but it's impossible to appease both sides. Eventually, Star Wars was going to have to change.
