I've lamented having to eventually watch it again prior to episode IX but finally broke down and watched it again today. It sucks, there's just no way around it. The entire Finn and Rose story arch is completely unnecessary and ruins the movie. This should have been a gritty to-the-point exploration of Luke Skywalker's failure and should have really delved into the balance between the light and dark within the same person rather than opposing individuals.
Liea floating through space???? That on it's own almost ruins the movie. Rose is annoying AF. Tracking through lightspeed. Cloaking. Those damned little penguin things. Luke Skywalker is basically a *****. Since when can 'ghost jedi' interact with the living world? Yoda using the lightning was kinds cool, but hitting Luke with his cane was too much.
Should have focused more on the dark side and reys short training. And what the hell, somebody needs to explain who Snoke was supposed to be. Del Toro's character needed more development and could have been cool if extended to episode IX.
The lone redeeming feature in the movie was the use of a puppet for Yoda and not some BS CGI.

Sorry about the rant. Been waiting 18 months to watch this again in hopes I wouldn't find it so horrible, but unfortunately it's even worse than I originally thought. No way every thing can be wrapped up as it should unless episode IX is 6 hours long.
Spot on

Other than the visuals it was baaaaad

Yeah the only good scene in the movie is the beginning where Rose' sister sacrifices herself.

Thanks for posting that. I've been avoiding seeing it again after the one time I originally saw it. It was so terribly bad, and the Rogue One and So,lo movies were so good. I was wondering about trying to watch it again to see if I might like it better the second time. What you wrote squashes that. Thanks again.
