Slyfox mentioned about McCaw's plan to limit the growth of the stadium to have limited seats to create a higher demand and higher prices and I think that would be counter to Dr. Falwell, Sr.'s vision of Liberty. Obviously we don't have to do everything the way he would have wanted; it isn't Falwell University after all. However, I do agree with him that Liberty should be trying to be more accessible for more people (without compromising Biblical teachings) so that Liberty can reach more people. I know it is just a football stadium and it isn't good business, but I wish Liberty would build enough seats for everyone to have one who wanted one even with the probability there would be empty seats most weeks.

As for the design, I really hope they build it in a way to give us a home field advantage. I know we have the best stadium in the Big South in a huge landslide, but I think any legal and moral advantage we can make for ourselves then we should go after it. I know the Seattle Seahawks built their stadium to get loud and it has an impact.
I hope the success of the FB program being FBS is enough of a branding opportunity to satisfy the admins of LU with it's huge, potential impact. It's a tightrope with expansion. How much is to much? What is too little, and what is just right? 25k seems like there will be standing room for big, high profile games and likely near sellouts for lesser high profile games.

The challenge for LU in fan support is to reach those who are casual FB fans, who are not necessarily active in the school or TRBC. The students, school officials, and TRBC have a system in place to indoctrinate those students to the LU way. But how does LU attract the casual fan, who may or may not want to be an active participant in the school or church?

The commercial spots promoting LU run during FB games are professionally produced, good quality, and get the point across. They effectively present the position of the school and offer the benefits and features of attending LU. They are effective without a hard sell. To change that perspective by professing values and moral issues, in a 30 second spot during a FB game, runs the risk of turning off viewers, and potential candidates of the school.

Just keep the current tone of the current TV spots. They present the school well. Avoid political stances and inflammatory statements that were mistakes made by LU admins in the past. It is an exciting time to be a LU fan. Let's hope admins of the university keep it way. The stadium expansion is certainly a great step in the university becoming identified with FBS and departing the FCS.
