Although if we're being honest the Buckeyes are far and away lead mule in queen city and everyone else is fighting over who gets to be the Buffalo Bills in that Super Bowl showdown.

No credibility or clever at all.

Let's not undersell cleverness, 6 out of the last 8 responses ITT seem to have had their jimmies rustled enough to be reeled in (5 of which after the pot-stirring emoji which was shamefully ignored in fits of queen city rage). It's almost as if this is a sensitive subject and the response could have been anticipated.

When I lived there for about a year and a half, the split during hoops season seemed to fall something along the lines of 35% Bearcats, 20% Xavier, 20% Buckeyes, 10% Kentucky, 10% Louisville, 5% whatever else. During football season, most seemed to forget UC existed and would jump aboard tOSU and ND's respective bandwagons (Kentucky and Louisville would magically disappear from the give a darn radar until November as well).

The Bearcats have carved out a nice niche in their hometown but seem to dramatically underachieve, at least compared to Xavier, given the breadth of local support and resources at hand. The fact that Xavier outdraws the Bearcats in men's hoops is a point of shame that I hope you folks remedy quickly, as it should never happen.

what year were you there?

Also...a poll comes out annually asking people to rate in order their likes in local sports.

It is broken down in Reds, Bengals, UC fb, UC bb, XU bb, OSU fb, OSU bb, etc.

Bengals, Reds, UC FB, are always #1-3.

OSU bb is usually #10-12.

So the “20%” eye test you have is wrong.

Mid 2000s, at the end of the Huggy era and the immediate aftermath. Bearcats football averaged somewhere around 20k per game back then, and that was a pretty generous accounting. Their following pre-November was non-existent at that time - I'm sure it cycled up under Kelly and Jones, and has probably spiraled back into the toilet this year.

20% for OSU's rooting allegiance in hoops might be off by a bit, but the poll you cite is a poor way of illustrating it. The slot in a hierarchy of any college rooting interests vis a vis the Reds and Bengals is not relevant. If there is a city-wide poll asking "what college hoops team do you support?" instead of "what's your #1 rooting interest across all pro and college sports?", that would be a better indicator. I think tOSU's share of the market for hoops probably isn't that far off if you register interest strictly versus other schools in the market.

Yeah. wrong again ol sport. But we appreciate your views. Its always fun seeing input from someone who is clueless. Instead of facts (updated annually) you use a year and half time slice from mod 2000’s after UC hoops was gutted and the FB team had yet to achieve national status.
