I think Gonzaga assumes all of the risk on that one. Even if it's a break-the-nose-to-spite-the-face kind of thing. Gonzaga's out, Seattle's in. Travel's easier for WCC, WCC programs don't feel like they have to dump money into basketball to keep up appearances with one super program.

Why would the WCC need to expand? Losing GU would hurt but what does Seattle or Denver offer them? Nothing! They have no fan base. The only school out there that has a fan base the fits the religious profile in GCU...despite being a for-profit school, they are the only school out there that would bring value to the WCC.
GCU getting back to non-profit status will get them into the WCC.

Seattle is a Jesuit school, so that gives them many WCC votes. Portland needs a travel partner.

GCU gets considered if BYu is gone. Cal Baptist might be considered after it completes its DI transition.
