Apparently St Marys got out of a game this year with Nevada and passed up an opportunity to play Rhode Island. Wow...

I am not sure why they got out of their game with Nevada, but I don't think it was out of fear of Nevada. San Francisco beat Nevada during the season. St. Mary's did what they could. They were 28-5 with an RPI of 40. Oklahoma was 18-13 with an RPI of 49. Texas was 19-14 with an RPI of 51. Syracuse was 20-13 with an RPI of 45. Oklahoma, Texas and Syracuse are in. They play in Power Conferences, St. Mary's does not. Simple as that.

P5 schools can lose 13 or 14 games and still make the tournament. Mid-majors need to win at least 25 games to make it as an at-large. Plus, the RPI needs to be in the top 25 for a mid-major to make it as an at-large.
