Well, that's it. The WCC concessions and getting retro pay kept them in the WCC.

For the time being..

Gonzaga AD Roth: “We appreciate the Mountain West pursuing us.” That differs from what Thompson said. This thing has been overblown from the start. The MWC is a slightly better conference. But the MWC needed Gonzaga more than Gonzaga needed them. The MWC was a one bid league in 2016, a one bid league in 2017 and got two bids this season because Nevada lost in the MWC tournament. Nevada had a good RPI, but they did lose to USF during the season.

The MWC has always been a good basketball league, but in their 20 years of existence have not gotten past the sweet sixteen. The MVC has had two schools in the final four in the past five years. Gonzaga used the MWC to get what they wanted. They were never close to leaving.
