RE: Temple Stadium Town Hall March 6th
What's interesting is that the Stadium Stompers group held a town meeting of their own on Thursday. They did get plenty of attention from the local media.
Their FB page claimed that 500 people showed up. A local paper reported a packed hall of 400 people. The TU student newspaper finally got it right at 100 people. I checked the pics and 100 was about right. Maybe 1/5 of the auditorium seats.
This type of slanted reporting is hurting Temple in their efforts to woo politicians. One good thing is that the Stompers group angrily admitted that no local politicians attended.
There is no doubt that the local politicians will be at the Tuesday Temple Town Hall. The Stompers did managed to add the local NCAACP, the local Black Clergy and a Temple professors group to their side. Still only 100 for all of these orgs was not a lot of people.
My guess is that they will get about that many at the Temple Town Hall on Tuesday evening. Hopefully, Temple folks will have them outnumbered by at least 5 to 1.
I keep telling people that in the end, money talks. Temple has $130 plus to spend on this project.
I don't think that the city can afford to thumb their nose at any big projects at this point.
I think that at this Tuesday meeting we will here some bickering but at the end of the night Temple's investment in this project will win out.
I can see this stadium in as little as 15 to 20 years contributing $100 million to the Philadelphia economy. Money talks ..
