If the university is paying for this then why do have to listen to a bunch of yentas yell at them for an hour ? Because that is EXACTLY what these dank things turn into.
Case in point: UCF.
The school paid for the stadium but had town hall meetings anyway. There was a notorious yenta busy body who screamed bloody murder about traffic and crime but it turned out she didnt even live in the surrounding neighborhoods.
They have to kiss their ass because if not they will protest at city hall. And the media will play it as the big bad rich college is pushing the black community out of their houses. The north Philly councilmen will threaten to boycott all city project approvals, and hold up any permit approvals.
In the past 50 years the north Philly community has a history of being antagonistic towards Temple. Despite the fact that the university employs over 70% of the north Philly residents, and provide the neighborhood with free use of most university facilities, largely free health care at Temple University hospital, free or greatly discounted tuition, special admission standards, etc. etc. And this in an area that has one of the highest unemployment rates in Pennsylvania. If not for Temple, this area would be a vast wasteland.
