Agreed. I thought it was a bid odd but at the same time there's no viable slam-dunk options so why not roll the dice? Because sometimes you crap out.

I think a dual-court setup *could* work but it would have to be executed a lot better than this is.

There is a slam dunk option: highest seed hosts each game, just add a travel day between each round.

I think the resistance to that is borne in part by a fear that it comes off as low-majorish. Like it's fine for the Big South and America East but not CUSA. Plus you could really send some teams traipsing around with a setup like that: Southern Miss would start the tournament in Miami, then go to Murfreesboro, and then Huntington with a final in Norfolk or Bowling Green. That's a lot of planes, buses and last-second hotel reservations.
