Most gambles don't payoff, most coaches have at least some experience at this level.
UNC, Duke, Kentucky etc. don't take chances just for the sake of taking chances. They had some basis in their belief when they hired their current head coaches. Habitual gamblers aren't wealthy, they're flat ******* broke.

and thus the larry brown part..

hiring larry brown as an "assistant" is basically larry brown as a the head coach but without the title to dramatically reduce the ncaa risk ..brown isn't an assistant

imho if brown is involved. as far as success it isnt that risky...he is a winner

...Not relevant to what we were talking about previously, but okay...
He's a winner, he's also someone who's gotten schools sanctioned and we're entering into a period where increased scrutiny due to an FBI probe and mass scandal is going to be applied to basketball. You don't think hiring a sleaze ball and a previous NBA player as your staff smells fishy? Do you remember Calipari? OR were Pastner and Tubs so bad you just forgot? Not to mention, how do you know Larry Brown at this age isn't going to be as washed up as Tubby Smith?
Dude's a fossil.
