Candice Cooper (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) recorded a hat trick and an assist as Northwestern shut out Saint Louis 5-0 in Muncie, Ind. Cooper now has a team-high seven goals on the season, and the Wildcats improved their record to 4-4.

NU got on the board early as Cooper deflected Suzi Sutton's (York, Pa./ Dallastown) shot into the goal at the 1:27 mark. Cooper scored again from Sutton and Lindsey Millard (St. Louis, Mo./Mary Institute Country Day), and she added a third goal off of a goalie deflection.

Morgan Kuhn (Chesterfield, Mo./Lafayette) and Ellen Schlafly (St. Louis, Mo./ MICDS) also scored a goal each for the 'Cats.

Sutton now leads the Wildcats with five assists this season.

NU took control of the game from the start and outshot SLU 18-3. Cooper led the Wildcats with five shots, while Juli Fomenko (Campbell, Calif./Los Gatos) fired four.

Northwestern returns to action at 1 p.m. on Sept. 28 at Iowa.
