Northwestern appeared to be over last week's drubbing to Air Force last week when Jason Wright returned the game's opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown.
But Texas Christian scored 41 straight points and rolled to a 48-24 victory over Northwestern, which was coming off a 52-3 loss to Air Force.
TCU's Sean Stilley rushed for a touchdown and completed on 11-of-18 passes for 255 yards, including the longest completion of his career, a 66- yarder to LaTarence Dunbar.
Three different TCU players rushed for scores, including Corey Connally, who ran for 88 yards and caught five passes for 33 yards. The five receptions matched Connally's total for all of last season.
The Horned Frogs (1-1) had only four days to prepare for the game. On Monday, they blew a 15-point lead and lost in overtime to Cincinnati.
The 48 points were the most for the Horned Frogs, since they recorded 62 at Southern Methodist on November 24, 2000.
Northwestern (0-2) committed seven turnovers, including six fumbles, the most for a TCU opponent since 1944. The Horned Frogs have forced 12 turnovers in its first two games.
Northwestern's Brett Basanez and Tony Strauss were a combined 14-of- 29 through the air for 124 yards and a touchdown.
Wright set a school mark with 191 yards in kickoff return yards, part of a team-record 270 for the game.
