IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) -- Iowa basketball coach Steve Alford has put his foot down about his players getting in trouble.
Alford has told them to leave downtown Iowa City by 9 p.m. each day.
The players have taken it another step and have decided to stay out of downtown altogether, a popular spot with restaurants and bars.
Brody Boyd, a junior guard, says the players had a meeting on Sunday night and decided that none of them would go downtown. He says it's not worth it.
Boyd was cited for underage possession of alcohol last weekend.
Eight Hawkeye athletes have been cited for alcohol or drug offenses since last fall.
