Hilltopper Haven Used to be......
....a place for Hilltopper fans to visit, read about, discuss, and support the teams of WKU. Now it's dominated by idiots, wannabe's, and obnoxious a$$es and I'm sad to say that they're all Topper fans. Now I know what it's like to be a UK fan.
Just had to get it off my chest. I'm not a Haven poster but I've depended on the Haven as a source of great reading about WKU Athletics for several years now. Let's hope it dies on the vine and another board replaces it.

The Haven has taken notice...
There are some familiar names over there: DUFUS, Truman, WKU MOse, but it's basically dead... a post a month. There's what happens when you have a civilized board...
I would love to get this board going. And often times Sunbelt fans want a WKU board that they can register on. Personally I love reading the haven... its very informative and often times very funny. My only compaint with the haven is that sometimes the posters are a little quick to want the coaches fired. But welcome Havenites.

Agreed
I agree, there are many Haven posters that I almost consider friends, although I've never met them. I've just gotten sick of some of the recent postings about the coaches and players. It's definately not what I've come to expect of Hilltopper fans, especially Haven posters.
Ditto about getting this board going. I know you've tried in the past but that was before basketball season started.

I agree, some people have just gotten out of hand on there. But their are still some nice folks on there. I just have to tune some people out.

I tried to register for the Haven while they were taking new members, but they never confirmed my acount and I still can't get on and voice my opinion. They need new members that have veiws other than the same old thing over and over and over. It used to be nice to read the Haven for nice info and updates. But now its just become a realitly show by about 5-8 posters. They made fun that people wanted a place to post outside of the Haven. SO HAVEN PEOPLE, there are other Hilltopper fans out there that like to post that can't, so thats why we all will post here or other sites that will except us.
We all love our Toppers and just like to talk about them.

Couldn't have said it better myself, wkuhilltopperfan. There are tens of thousands of Topper fans, yet there appear to be a few on the Haven who think they represent us all. I've always loved The Haven and have the greatest respect for what the creator, Haven, has done to provide a haven for Topper fans. I also admire several posters on The Haven who exhibit class, maturity, and love for the Toppers. Lately, Hilltopper Haven has become a platform for hot air and a few posters who appear to have hidden agendas against our coaches. These same posters have bashed our football coach, our women's BB coach, and now our men's bb coach....hmmmmm
There are many other boards dedicated to Topper fans, but I have come to like this format after reading the MAC forum on this board....back when the speculation about WKU and the MAC was hot and heavy. The membership on this board is huge, it's easy to register, and is frequented by fans of other Sunbelt teams.

I agree. One by one, I've noticed some of the better posters stop posting.

I like this board as it gives me a chance to talk to Western fans and even comment about something I read on the Haven that got my attention. I think this Board will get some serious action once your 1-A football games begin. That coupled with BB should help considerably.
SUGGESTION: Go to the board of each of your 1-A football opponents for next year and give them this board address and invite them over. Go back to their board periodically and post on the thread to BUMP it back to the top.
Go SBC!!!!

Just migrated to this site. Always good to have a variety of places to discuss the Toppers. I'm more of a Hilltopper football fan anything else.

I think it is a great move for both the football program and university as a whole. Football wise it will be a tough go the next couple of years getting our scholarship numbers up and redshirting anyone that hasn't had a redshirt. I believe serious sacrifices will be made the next 2 years in terms of our win-loss record in order to be competitive at the highest level the Sunbelt has to offer our first year in the league in 2009.
