Theres an article on IC, that says "No offer yet for Bynum", anyone know of anything brewing?? I think it would be good to get a legit big man (height wise). what do you all think?? He seems like he's still learning how to use his height, from what is writen on the little notes...

Not enough scholarships. Offers are out to higher ranked big men. If they pass us by, then we may offer.

hey you're right, I wasn't even thinking about that...
how many do we have left? Just 3, or less than that? When does the new scholarship rule go into effect. That allows us an alloted number of Scholarships every year, instead of 5 a year, and 8 in a recruiting class, right??

I think the new rule is in effect -- if not officially, then unofficially.
It's hard to tell how many scholarships we'll have to offer next year. I believe we had one left over this year (after the JamesOn and J.R. situations sorted themselves out). If we only lose the three seniors next year, then we should have four total to give out. With Ginyard and Frasor taking up two, that would leave two more up for grabs.
I think we all expect at least one more person to not be with the team -- whether it be one (or both) of Ray and Rashad... or Damion Grant... or Marvin Williams. Heck, even Sean May could go pro, but I believe he'll still have a lot he needs to prove even if he has a breakout year next year. So, we could have anywhere from 2 to 7 more scholarships to play with when it's all said and done.
Let me chart this out just to make sure:
1. Ray Felton*
2. Rashad McCants*
3. Sean May*
4. David Noel
5. Byron Sanders
6. Damion Grant*
7. Reshawn Terry
8. Quentin Thomas
9. Marvin Williams*
10. Bobby Frasor
11. Marcus Ginyard
12.
13.

Your charting show just how stupid the 13 scholarship limit is. With so many kids leaving early, there should be a place on rosters for a kid who is a project and needs time to mature. Instead, schools have to go out and focus on players who can contribute immediately. The 5/8 rule made it even worse. Thank goodness that's gone.
With all the talk of gender equity, why is it that women's teams are allowed more scholarship players. Totally ridiculous. I guess that's why we don't have any success stories like Warren Martin or Serge Zwikker any more. The schools can't afford to take on a player based on their long-term potential.

Oh, by the way, JD, did you leave out Wes Miller on purpose? Won't he be on scholarship or am I mistaken?

I thought Wes Miller was a walk-on, but I could be wrong about that.

I thought he was a walk-on too, but with the possibility of a scholarship later. Maybe he's just going to pay his way. That would be nice. Sounds like the kid can play.
